It all started in June 1982…
Carey Arnell Drisdom Jr, better known as CJ, was born in a small town called Lynwood at St Francis Medical Center and raised in Compton, California by Carey Sr & Teri Lee Drisdom, where he also functioned as the oldest of 4 brothers (Timothy, Chris, & Terrence). After high school, he toured the country, majored in Vocal Performance at Cal State University of Long Beach, and earned a full ride scholarship from the Jenkins Family Trust as being one of three highly honored Black Males to stay in college, while studying under the world famous opera star Marvelee Cariaga.
He now resides in Salt Lake City, Utah and is the preferred vendor in Salt Lake County, Davis County, Summit County (Park City), and Utah County. He owns Changing Lanes Entertainment Group, N’ Da Howz Productions & LakeHouse Studios, as well as manages several artists, of various genres, under the LakeHouse label.
Since 1996, CJ has been collecting and discovering eclectic styles of music, developing one of the most unparalleled and high energy band sets in the industry. CJ’s world-class bands are guaranteed to have the dance floor packed and every person in attendance smiling. His knowledge of musical genres, coaching techniques, and ability to play to any crowd have helped him become a rising star on the music scene locally, and a regularly requested talent all across North America.
CJ and his team (CLEG) is currently one of the most in-demand bands in the high-end market for corporate, private, and special events. Over the years, he has entertained events alongside Kanye West, Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia, America’s Got Talent, Omarion, Will Smith, Kirk Franklin (Gospel), John P. Kee (Gospel), Salt Lake City Mass Choir, James Cleveland Mass Choir, Donald Lawrence (Gospel), Alex Boye, Skylar Grey, YelaWolf, Big Henri, DJ Quik, John Legend, Snoop Dogg, the Blues Brothers, the Band Perry, Sundance Head, The Chainsmokers, Talib Kweli, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jordan, and Kobe Bryant just to name a few.
CJ has traveled all over America, with events in Brazil, the Bahamas, Jackson Hole, Denver Colorado, Laguna Beach, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Napa Valley, and has worked for companies such as Bank of America, Wells Fargo, E-Trade, Solar Power, Café Rio, Nicholas & Company Nevada, T-Mobile, YouTube, DOMO, Academy Mortgage, St. Regis, KUTV, GTU, The Ritz-Carlton, Montage, The Grand America, Yellowstone, Sundance Institute, Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers Organizations.
CJ is going on his 15th year as a full-time music professional and through the experience of playing such events as A-list parties during the Sundance Film Festival, Black Chamber of Commerce, NAACP, Governors Gala, weekend nights at popular nightclubs/lounges, intimate wedding receptions, and Fortune 500 company parties, he has acquired the knowledge and ability to play to any crowd of any demographic with any musical preference.
Currently, his bands have played combined over 2,000+ events including Summit Sotheby’s, University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics, Alpine Bank of Colorado, PLAN, Pharmaceutical Companies, and so many more!
